Youths and Educational institutions have a big role in achieving total cleanliness: Javdekar

New Delhi, September 14: HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar on Thursday publicly announced the Swacchata ranking of Higher Educational Institutes and the awards were presented to the top rankers.

 

25 institutions were selected in four categories out of 3500 participant institutions. The Swacchata ranking has invited both government and private institutions.

Talking on Swachh Bharat Mission, the minister said youths and educational institutions have a big role in achieving total cleanliness. He said, till now 4 crore 80 lakh toilets have been built around the country including in educational institutions with a separate facility for girl students.

The Minister said, due to public participation, the Swachh Bharat Mission became a people's movement. He said, under the mission, more than 2 lakh villages and more than 160 districts have been declared Open Defecation Free.
