Now m-Aadhar will serve as passenger’s identity proof during rail journey

New Delhi, September 14: mAadhar which was recently developed by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) now can be used as identity proof for rail travel across the country. On Wednesday it has been notified that will serve as one of the prescribed proofs of Identity for Rail Travel purpose in any reserved class.

For showing m-Aadhar passenger has to enter his or her password. Then only it will be accepted as proof of identity for undertaking the journey. “m- Aadhar when shown by the passenger on his/her mobile after entering the password should be accepted as proof of identity for undertaking the journey in any reserved class over Indian Railways,” the Ministry of railway statement reads.

m-Aadhar allows carrying Aadhaar number with demographic details anytime, anywhere in a convenient way. To secure biometric authentication by locking biometrics data, once resident enables Biometric Locking system their biometric remains locked till the Aadhaar Holder chose to either unlock it (which is temporary) or Disable the Locking system. It can, however, be downloaded only on the mobile number to which Aadhaar has been linked.
