Maha farmers can apply for loan waiving till 22 Sept

Mumbai, September 15:  Giving a big relief for the farmers in Maharashtra, the Fadnavis government has extended the deadline for farm loan waiver online application. Now farmers can apply until 22 September, earlier the deadline was 15 September. There are 44 Lakh farmers who were not been able to submit their online applications by 14 September, this decision will bring a big relief for them.

 

As said the loan waiving decision of Rs.34, 022 crores announced by Maharashtra government on 24 June will give the benefit to 89 Lakh farmers. According to the officials around 70 Lakh, farmers had enrolled for the scheme out of which 45 Lakh had completed their online application by 14 September. The officials said that by 15 September evening, an additional half a million farmers may submit their applications.

State Minister of cooperation, Subhash Deshmukh and also the head of the loan waiver scheme group had earlier said that the deadline regarding this scheme would not be extended as the government had committed to give the benefits to the farmers by Diwali and if it is done then the process of loan waiving will be delayed. Deshmukh added that the government would consider the cases of those farmers who had failed to meet the deadline after one October, indicating that there may be an extension later on and no eligible farmer will be denied the benefit.

The Maharashtra government had aimed to waive the loan of only eligible farmers for which they have to fill up a two-page form which is available on the government portal. To enrol and file online applications by themselves, the Fadnavis government has opened around 26000 centres across the state. Farmers from Marathwada and Vidarbha have reported the technical problems in the process. Various government departments will have a meeting with the bankers after which they will take a decision on the online applications and determine the eligibility the official said.

On 24th June 2017, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced Rs 34,022 crore Farm loan waiver for farmers in the state and said that the government will waive loans up to Rs 1.5 lakhs completely. The Maharashtra chief minister also said the loan waiver scheme- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Krushi Sanman Yojana will benefit around 89 lakh farmers in the state and will make around 40 lakh farmers debt-free.
