Time to ‘Thank’ them: Maha Govt to reward cops who selflessly worked during floods in Mumbai

Mumbai, September 15: Though Mumbai is back on her spirit, but Mumbaikars won’t ever forget 29 August, when the whole city came to standstill. Thousands couldn’t reach their homes, hundreds were stranded, and there were volunteers and police officials who voluntarily came forward to help everyone. No, we didn’t lose anything; we won as ‘Humans’. Yay! 

To appreciate these good souls, Maharashtra government has decided to give 5 Crore rupees reward to police personnel who worked untiringly during the deluge of August 29 to ensure the safety of citizens and for the good work done in the last few months. The reward amount will be distributed amongst the personnel belonging to the ranks of police constables and assistant police sub inspectors.

Mumbai Police have always earned it, no matter what be it Ganeshotsav or floods, Mumbaikars always feel safe enough when they help us. The government has also lauded the work done by the police for maintaining communal harmony during the recently concluded Ganeshotsav and Bakri Id festivals.

29 August was recorded as the wettest day in the history of Mumbai, after 20 years. Warnings were given, Army men were deployed to take control over the flooding areas, few of them lost their lives etc was observed when Mumbai was drowned due to heavy rains.
