TV channels and FM stations to give attention on cleanliness campaign urges I&B ministry

New Delhi, September 17: To give adequate attention to the ongoing cleanliness campaign of the centre, Information & Broadcasting Ministry on Sunday has advised Private television, FM and community radio stations.

 

On 27th August 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat programme addressed ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ and called upon the nation to undertake this campaign.

 
 According to ministry, in the spirit of a jan andolan the campaign is aimed at creating an environment of cleanliness across the country. In the favour of this campaign, the ministry advocated the media to play an important role building opinion and create awareness.

Swachhta Hi Sewa is a nationwide sanitation campaign which has started from 15th September 2017 and will end on 02nd October 2017. According to the Ministry of drinking and sanitation, six initiatives will be part of this massive movement.

On 15th September 2017, this campaign was launched by president Ram Nath Kovind in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. 17th September will be celebrated as a Seva diwas in the country. On 24th September, samagra swachhta by citizens and SBM ambassadors will be done in the country. On 25th September sarvatra swachhta will be initiated at different public places. On 1st October swachhta at iconic places will be celebrated and on 2nd October swachh bharat diwas will be celebrated in the country.
