India is a peace-loving country but bravely answers every bullet of neighboring country: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, September 18: Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said the first bullet will not come from the Indian side, but it will give a fitting reply if the neighboring country uses the bullet first. He asserted that the centre will not resume dialogue with Pakistan unless it takes steps to stop infiltration activity along the borders.

The Home Minister said the fact that India is a peace-loving country does not mean that it would keep quiet if peace is disturbed along the borders. The Home Minister was addressing a massive public meeting in Nizambad town of Telangana this evening. The meeting, was organised by Bharatiya Janatha Pary to mark Telangana Liberation Day Yesterday. 

Notably, Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire along the International Border in Jammu district for the six consecutive days. The Pakistan army targeted Indian outposts with bullets and artillery shells. One temple, two houses and three cowsheds were damaged in the Pakistani firing in Sai, Treva and Jabowl villages. 1 BSF jawan has been killed in the firing. Indian troops retaliated and gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani firing and shelling.

Till August 1, there were 285 such violations by the Pakistan Army, while in 2016, it 228 for the entire year, according to the Army figures.

Meanwhile, EAM Sushma Swaraj & Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif might meet in New York next week. Both the leaders are set to participate in the SCO Summit and the SAARC group meetings, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UNGA. Sushma will also chair 15 bilateral meetings, including the G77 meeting, the SU meeting, the G4 meeting and the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China & S Africa) meeting.
