New Delhi, September 18: Day by day the influx of Rohingyas in Bangladesh is escalating as they have been severely facing the ‘humanatarian’ crisis after forced to leave from the Rakhine state of Myanmar; on the grounds of ‘Humanity’, Indian Army extended their assistance and launched ‘Operation Insaniyat’ which provided 55 tonnes of relief material to the affected Rohingya people in Bangladesh.

The Ministry of External Affairs started an ‘Operation Insaniyat’ to provide assistance to Bangladesh in response to the humanitarian crisis being faced by it due to the large influx of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. After the Ministry of External Affairs extended the ‘humanity’ arm, Indian Air Force sent the first tranche of relief material, 55 tonnes, which consists of rice, sugar, salt, pulses, cooking oil, biscuits and mosquito nets to the affected people.

According to UN, over 379,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled Myanmar's Rakhine state into Bangladesh since August 25. The violence had started after Rohingya militants belonging to Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (also known as Harakat al-Yaqeen or Faith Movement) had attacked police posts in Myanmar’s northern Rakhine state. Following this attack, Myanmar’s military had launched the violent crackdown on insurgents from Muslim Rohingya population which led to mass exodus of Rohingya Muslims into neighbouring Bangladesh. Rohingya are the stateless ethnic minority (mostly Muslim) from Rakhine province of Buddhist-majority Myanmar, who are forced leave their country due to large influx OF Rohingya Refugees from Myanmar.

The relief material was delivered in consignments, the first of which was delivered to Chittagong by an Indian Air Force plane on 14th September.

India has always responded readily and swiftly to any crisis in Bangladesh, in keeping with the close ties of friendship between the people of India and Bangladesh. India stands ready to provide any assistance required by Government of Bangladesh in this hour of need, stated by Ministry of External Affairs in its press release. Looking at this we come to the line that India has always stood by ‘Humanity’ and ‘Operation Insaniyat’ is one of the inspiring pages in the book.
