Dawood Ibrahim’s younger brother Iqbal Kaskar arrested in an extortion case

Mumbai, September 19: Iqbal Kaskar, younger brother of Don Dawood Ibrahim, was detained by Thane Police in an extortion case. On Monday night the Crime Branch of Thane arrested Iqbal Kaskar in a connection with an investigation into an extortion case. 

Iqbal was taken into custody from his house in Nagpada area in Central Mumbai by a team led by encounter specialist and the anti-extortion cell's senior police inspector Pradeep Sharma, an official said.

This action was taken after some calls were made to one of the builders of Thane in the name of Iqbal. The builder then approached the Anti-Extortion Cell of Thane Police with a complaint. Acting on this the Crime branch took Iqbal into their custody.

Meanwhile, Iqbal was earlier deported from the United Arab Emirates in 2003, is said to be operating his brother's real estate business in the city, the police said. He was wanted in a murder case and the Sara Sahara illegal construction case. However, he was acquitted in both the cases in 2007. Iqbal Kaskar had been demanding huge sum of money from the builders by threatening them.
