Nay Pyi Taw, September 19: The Rohingya issue which was recently termed as “global concern” by UN has been disturbing the nation Myanmar since long days. When some people condemned Aung San Suu Kyi for her silence, after the crisis started she came up with her first national address. Suu Kyi said she was making this speech because she was unable to travel to the UN General Assembly later this week.

The violence which erupted from an attack on Myanmar’s army camp was branded as “ethnic cleansing” without understanding the internal problem. After long civil war Myanmar transited to democracy recently. Suu Kyi previously also said they lack enough funds to address all the issue. Again she said, “Myanmar is a complex nation. People expect us to overcome all the challenges in the shortest time possible”.

Since a long time, Buddhist and Rohingyas claim each other for the violence. “We too are concerned. We want to find out what the real problems are. There have been allegations and counter-allegations. We have to listen to all of them. We have to make sure those allegations are based on the solid evidence before we take action,” she said.

Whereas international community is telling that more than 400,000 Rohingya Muslims crossed into Bangladesh, she said that most Muslims had not fled the state and that violence had ceased. She mentioned that Myanmar feels deeply for the suffering of all groups in Rakhine, and concerned about Muslims fleeing to Bangladesh.

When international community heavily criticized her she invites the international community to visit Myanmar and clearly told Myanmar does not fear international scrutiny.

Myanmar has made a central committee for implementing rule of law & development in Rakhine. The country has also prepared to start a refugee verification process for those who wish to return.

She urged the world to see Myanmar as a whole and said it was sad that the international community was concentrated on one among the country’s many problems.
