Gaya, September 19: Again Bihar faced a major Maoist attack in last night. The extremist group blew up a solar plant located at Amas in Gaya by dynamite. The blast damaged its control room and workers' accommodation unit, a police officer said today.

As per local media reports, the Maoists demanded levy from the executives of the power plant. It is being assumed that as the executives denied to give the levy, Maoist carried out the incident. The Maoists had demanded a levy of Rs 1 crore from the company. However, Police refuted the levy demand theory. Police think as the security forces have become more active against the Maoists, they have become more desperate to hold power.

Gaya is already a Naxal affected district in Bihar. Earlier on August 7, the Maoists blew up a community building by installing explosives in Barachatti police station area of Gaya district.

Along with ASP Naxal Arun Kumar Singh and the SSB, personnel reached the spot Police force reached the spot after the incident. The help of Sniffer Dogs was taken to investigate.

The plant used to produce 25 MW of power, which was supplied to Sherghati and Bodh Gaya grids. It took about two years to build this plant.
