Transport department to link PUC with insurance

New Delhi, September 22: Lt. Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal chaired a meeting on Thursday at Raj Niwas to review the status of measures taken by various agencies to combat air pollution in Delhi. This meeting was held to take actions in the short and long-term for improving air quality. 

20 Real-Time pollution Monitoring Stations will be functional by 15th of October, 2017, as per the directions are given on 17th August, 2017. For dust control, 12 Mechanical Road Sweepers are in operation in South MCD. Two Mechanical Road Sweepers have been procured by East DMC which will be operational in a week, while 4 Mechanical Road Sweepers are operational in North MCD, and in two weeks another 4 Mechanical Road Sweepers will be procured.

Auditing of Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates is going on. Steps are being taken to link PUC certificate with insurance by Transport Department, GNCTD. With effect from 15th October 2017, the Badarpur Thermal Power Station will be closed. In view of the coming winter season, discussion on implementation of Graded Response Action Plan was also done.

Environment and Education Department took an initiative in the Anti-fire crackers campaign during the coming festival season.

Lt. Governor stated that to combat the air pollution various measures being taken. He also directed that all the agencies should follow a time-bound schedule for the various activities identified and also generate awareness among the public for improving air quality in Delhi.
