India is aggressively pursuing implementation of paperless trading: Suresh Prabhu at ASEM

Seoul, September 22: As India is pursuing ‘Act East Policy’ the relationship with South Korea has great significance, Commerce Ministers Suresh Prabhu said. He is attending The 7th ASEM Economic Ministers’ Meeting is the South Korean capital Seoul. He sought support for an early harvest from bilateral trade negotiations from the Leader of Democratic Party, Choo Mi.

Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) is an intergovernmental process established in 1996 to foster dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe. ASEM addresses political, economic, social, cultural, educational issues of common interest, in the spirit of mutual respect and equal partnership. ASEM economic ministers’ meeting is happening after 12 years.

While addressing the forum at ASEM, Pradhu said India is aggressively pursuing implementation of paperless trading and single window facilitation. Free trade is now a worldwide issue. Talking on that, he said this is a challenge for all country to ensure free, fair trade embodied in WTO principles. 

Suresh Prabhu also addressed the Business leader forum comprising of the senior leadership of Korean business giants. During the session giant company, Samsung said, “We believe that more than half of our manufacturing could come from India. Strong Indian Democracy and reform agenda being pursued by the Government allows for sustainable business, " Suresh Prabhu tweeted. He also listened to the listen to the difficulties they experience while doing business in the Indian market. Despite some hurdles, South Korean companies have increased their investments in India.

Later on, Friday Prabhu met South Korean leader Choo Mi. She reassured that India's cooperation with South Korea will go beyond Economics to culture, tourism, defense amongst other areas. The Indian government will further strengthen the Korea Plus cell created to facilitate Korean investments in India.

Suresh Prabhu met top officials from France Spain, Norway, and Denmark. He discussed issues ranging various topics like the food industry, export of fishery, seafood, high-speed rail.
