Beijing, September 24: Dismissing remarks of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), China said that Kashmir conflict must be resolved bilaterally by India and China. IOC had sought implementation of UN resolution on Kashmir.
When his attention was drawn towards the report regarding a meeting of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir which met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York during which all members reaffirmed their support to the Kashmiri people and urged the UN Security Council to ensure implementation of its resolution on Kashmir, he said, “China has noted the relevant report.”
Notably, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has supported Pak and demanded that India immediately stop 'atrocities' in Kashmir. OIC Sec Gen Iyad Ameen Madani has also called for a peaceful settlement of the issue according to the wishes of Kashmiri people and UNSC resolutions. The group has resolved to voice the issue in the international stage.
Earlier, India had slammed OIC for interfering on Kashmir issue. India said Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inseparable part of it, and advised the organisation to refrain from making such references in future.
“India outrightly rejects all such references. The OIC has no locus standi on Indias internal affairs. We strongly advise the OIC to refrain from making such references in future," Sumit Seth, First Secretary at Indias Permanent mission to the UN in Geneva said.
The OIC is a 57-nation grouping which claims to be the collected voice of Muslims across the world. Dr. Yousef Ahmed Al-Othaimeen is the 11th Secretary General who assumed the office in November 2016.
