India and Canada jointly issued postal stamps on Diwali theme

New Delhi, September 24: India and Canada jointly issued the postal stamps on 21st September 2017 based on Diwali theme and memorializing the historic bilateral culture between the two countries. The stamp was unveiled in two separate events in Delhi & Toronto.

 

This is the first joint stamp unveiled for Diwali. Red stamp designed by Canada post and the Gold stamp designed by India Post Office. Canada has done this only with 12 countries. The stamps are designed by Gerald Querubin of Entro Communications and India Post, printed by Lowe-Martin, the Permanent domestic-rate stamps measure 30 mm by 35 mm. These stamps are printed in five colors plus a varnish. The stamp valued at 5 Canadian dollars and 25 Indian rupees.

 

Talking about the ceremony India’s high commissioner to Canada, Vikas Swaroop said that the stamp of friendship for two vibrant Democracies. It was a privilege to speak at the unveiling ceremony of the first joint stamp.

 
 

CEO Deepak Chopra said that the Diwali stamps express our pride in Canada being a land of diverse faiths, customs, and celebrations. It is fitting that this historic first joint issue celebrates the strong relationship between Canada and India.

 

A celebration of Diwali festival is going to start from October 19 to 23, two domestic-rate stamps are available in Canada.
