Odisha set to establish new ‘Cyber Crime Police Stations’ in a wake of increasing online fraud and cyber crimes

Bhubaneswar, September 24: To deal with increasing online fraud and cyber crimes in the state, Odisha government plans to set up three new Cyber Crime Police Stations, each in Berhampur, Sambalpur and Rourkela districts. A notification issued by the Home Department said that the Cyber Crime police station at Berhampur will have 10 police limits and Sambalpur will have nine while police stations in four districts will come under the purview of the Rourkela Cyber Crime police station. 

The Cyber Crime Police Station at Berhampur will have jurisdiction comprising police stations in Ganjam, Berhampur, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Rayagada. Similarly, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Dhenkanal and Boudh police stations areas will come under the Sambalpur Cyber Crime police limit.

The four police limit which will be under the purview of Rourkela Cyber Crime police limits are Sundargarh, Rourkela, Keonjhar and SRP, Rourkela. Earlier, the state already has a Cyber Police station in Cuttack. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved the creation of three new Cyber Police Stations in May this year.
