New York, September 24: Pakistan is a safe haven for terrorism and the whole world knows it despite all are quiet. Showing a mirror to Pakistan in United Nations General Assembly on Saturday evening, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said while India made institutes like IIT, IIM and AIIMS, Islamabad created terror groups like LeT, JeM, Hizbul Mujahideen and Haqqani Network.

 

Minister Sushma Swaraj hitting out at Pakistan who accused New Delhi of sponsoring terrorism, human rights violation said listening to the Pakistani Prime Minister, people had only one observation, 'Look who is talking'.


Sushma also slammed Pakistan for creating terror groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen and the Haqqani Network. “India has asked Pakistani leaders to introspect as to why their country is infamous as the pre-eminent export factory for terror,” Minister Sushma added.

Speaking in Hindi, the External Affairs Minister also said a country that has been the world's greatest exporter of havoc, death and inhumanity became a champion of hypocrisy by preaching about humanity from this podium. Sushma further noted that India is fighting against poverty, but Pakistan is fighting against India through spreading terror.


Sushma Swaraj accused Pakistan of waging a war against India. She said, while India made institutes like IIT, IIM and AIIMS, Pakistan created terror groups like LeT, JeM, Hizbul Mujahideen and Haqqani Network. Swaraj further noted that India has risen despite being the principal destination of Pakistan's nefarious export of terrorism. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had offered the hand of peace and friendship and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Abbasi must answer why his nation spurned this offer.


Describing terrorism as an "existentialist danger" to mankind, Swaraj wondered how the international community will fight the menace if the UN Security Council cannot agree on the listing of terrorists. The External Affairs Minister also expressed concerns over climate change, maritime security, unemployment, gender empowerment, nuclear proliferation and cyber-security.

On achieving the target set for 2030, Sushma Swaraj called for a sense of urgency and unshakable fortitude to take decisions to avert catastrophe. She said, "India has displayed courage & leadership to take tough decisions which have launched the interlinked process of sustainable development."


Stressing on PM Modi's economic empowerment approach to eradicate poverty, EAM said, "We are turning them from job-seekers into job-providers." She spoke at length about several initiatives like the Jan Dhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Skill India, Ujjwala Yojana and Digital India. The EAM highlighted how these measures were transforming and strengthening the lives of people.


She also spoke about demonetization and rollout of GST and how it has benefitted the country. EAM also praised inclusion of Global Partnership principle in SDGs and said that India had started, this year, the India-UN Development Partnership Fund.


While referring to the UN role and the goal set for UN reforms and security architecture, Minister Sushma said that without improvements in the UN Peacekeeping, this goal cannot be achieved. She said, at the 2005 World Summit, there was a consensus that the early reform of the Security Council is an essential element of our overall efforts to reform the United Nations.


The External Affairs Minister said India's culture and thoughts have been shaped by history and philosophy that believes in peace as humankind's only rational and practical objectives. Highlight India's traditional principles of the need to struggle for global peace and happiness, she read out lines from the Sanskrit mantra - Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah. Swaraj wrapped up her address to the UN General Assembly saying - May all be happy; May all be healthy; May all see what is good; May all be free from suffering.
