201 districts Open Defecation Free under Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign

New Delhi, September 25: India’s fight against open defecation got the support from the people of the country. The coverage of Open Defecation Free (ODF) has increased in four more districts on Sunday, the total number sums up to 201 with the help of Swacchata Hi Seva campaign for the rural sanitation.

 

The Swacchata Hi Seva campaign is supported by Bollywood. While the film stars of South region also supporting Swachhata Campaign. Rajinikanth and S.S. Rajamaouli committed to support Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign.

 

Till 23rd September close to one crore people have come forward to contribute in the ongoing ‘Swachhta hi Seva’ campaign as the drive enters the second week. The inaugural week saw a wave of cleanliness activities across the country.

 

In Maharashtra 430 Gram Panchayats have been declared ODF and over 58 thousand toilets have been constructed since September 15th. Kargil becomes the third Open Defecation Free district in Jammu & Kashmir. On the other hand, over two lakh villages have become Open Defecation Free and this movement needs to be sustained.

Swachh Bharat Mission achieved another milestone on 22nd September as 200 districts in India have become Open Defecation Free. According to Uttar Pradesh government, 15,000 toilets constructed every day to make Uttar Pradesh Open Defecation Free by 2018.

India will have 10 Open Defecation Free states by March 2018, says Minister Harsh Vardhan. On 15th September, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Kerala, & Haryana have attained Open Defecation Free (ODF) status.

In response to the Prime Minister’s invite to be a part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, famous breast cancer expert, Padma Shri Dr. P Raghu Ram stated that I have decided to conduct the Swachhata Initiative in Ibrahimpur, my adopted village, in the remotest part of Telangana State.

Addressing Mann ki Baat, PM Narendra Modi said that the campaign ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ launched by President Ram Nath Kovind saw nearly 75 lakh people joined more than 40,000 initiatives.
