Trump brings revised travel ban policy; adds Chad, North Korea and Venezuela

Washington, September 25: Trump administration on Sunday unveiled a new travel ban which includes Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen. Notably, President Trump signed the proclamation according to which the citizens of these seven countries are banned to enter in the United States.

 

However, the controversial step taken by President Trump is aimed at making the United States safe and secure from the terrorists. "Making America Safe is my number one priority. We will not admit those into our country we cannot safely vet," President Trump said in a tweet.

The new rules will go into effect on October 18 and most citizens of these countries will be indefinitely banned from entering the US. The announcement of the ban comes on the same day from when Trump’s temporary ban on visitors from six Muslim-majority countries is set to expire, 90 days after it went into effect. Earlier, Trump’s ban affected citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

From the ban list, restrictions on citizens from Sudan are lifted while North Korea and Venezuela are added. While the proclamation signed by President Trump reads "As President, I must act to protect the security and interests of the United States and its people." "North Korea does not cooperate with the United States government in any respect and fails to satisfy all information-sharing requirements," the proclamation added.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting all refugee admissions and temporarily barring people from seven Muslim-majority countries. In this order, suspends the arrival of refugees in the US for at least 120 days and bars visas for travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries including Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for the next three months.
