Korea Gas Corp and Nagaland inked agreement to develop LNG export and boost investment opportunities

Dimapur, September 26: Korea Gas Corp (KOGAS), a South Korean company, world’s 2nd biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) importer is keen to invest in Nagaland. KOGAS signed an agreement with Nagaland for investment and to develop LNG export unit in the State as a transit point for export to ASEAN countries. 

During a meeting with Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang at his residential office in Kohima, BoSung Cessilia Park, President, Green Energy Inc Korea, expressed that Nagaland has huge limestone reserve in Mimi village of Kiphire district and also oil and gas fields in pockets of the State.

Further, she said, if MoU could be eventually signed, then Kogas can employ its large LNG carriers (NICKO ship) to export limestone to ASEAN countries through waterways, informed a CMO press release.

The crushed limestone is used for road base and railroad ballast. It is also used as raw material for cement plant and manufacture of glass. Park said the company is engaged in import, refining and export and that Nagaland would be the best transit point to import, refine and supply of products from the Middle East to South East Asia. She also suggested obtaining NOC from landowners and geological report as negotiation is being traded.
