Kolkata, January 1: Sea to mountain, lush of green forest, West Bengal is bestowed with beautiful natural diversity. But, unfortunately, the state cannot use its full potential in case of tourism. Now the state with the rise of New Year administration will take initiatives in a planned manner to attract international tourists. It will also organize a "World Tourism Festival".

"Bengal has a huge potential in tourism. The state has lush green forests, mountains, beaches, and wildlife that every year attracts tourists from across the country. We are planning to highlight these in a planned manner throughout the year to international tourists, so that the inflow increases,” Bengal tourism Minister Goutam Deb said.

While the tourism department has already started initial work, the final decision will be taken after consulting Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The state has already launched various major projects including Bengal Safari on the outskirts of Siliguri, Gazoldoba.

The state has been focusing on tourism with greater importance last two years. Along with natural diversity, the state has demographic importance too. The state is surrounded by various SAARC countries due to its unique location. Hence, the tourism department is trying to use all the potential for a more profitable tourism industry.
