Odisha greets Nation by creating world’s biggest sand art of Lord Jagannath to grace New Year

Puri, January 1: Greeting people on the occasion of the New Year, Odisha greeted everyone with 30 feet high sand sculpture of Lord Jagannath at Puri sea beach on Sunday, to welcome the New Year. Renowned artist Sudarshan Patnaik along with his students created the great sand sculpture on the eve of grand welcome of Lord Jagannath.

 

One of the world’s biggest sand art of 30 feet high and 60 feet wide sculpture has turned a centre of attraction for tourists who visited the Pilgrim Town of Puri to on the eve of New Year. About 800 tonnes of sand was used to create the huge sculpture. The work was started on Saturday by sand artist Sudarshan and his 40 students.

 

Through this Sudarsan broke his own record by creating this 30ft high sand Jagannath. In 2013, he had created a 25ft high sand sculpture of Lord Jagannath.

By the sculpture the artist broken his own record achieved in 2013, when he had created a sculpture of Lord Jagannath that measured 25 ft in height. Alongside, he also created another sand sculpture on the environment with the message “Go Green 2018”.

On the eve of Christmas Sudarshan Patnaik had created world’s biggest sand Santa Claus face on eve of Christmas. Earlier, Pattnaik had set a series of world records by constructing sand arts on various occasions.

Also thousands have arrived to grace the New Year occasion and worship Lord Jagannath temple. Also Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik greeted people personally on this occasion.
