Mumbai, January 11: To reduce the efforts of commuters to wait in long queues, the
Western Railway is now all set to provide one more important facility to its
suburban commuters by getting tickets through 'Optical Character Recognition
kiosks'. This is being extended to passengers on suburban section from 11th
January.
This machine has been set up on 20 stations on western railway. These stations include Andheri, Dadar, Borivili, Churchgate to name a few. By installing this machine the passengers will get print out of tickets booked through UTS mobile app with the aim to reduce the long queues at booking counters/ATVM machines thereby promoting transactions through UTS mobile app.
In the initial days, the Western railway was gifted the new AC train and now this ease of getting tickets adds up to the various new initiatives and trials by the railway department
