BSF commence upgradation of infrastructure projects along Indo-Pak border to curb menace of drugs

Amritsar, January 12: In a bid to curb the menace of drugs from Punjab, the Border Security Force (BSF) has commenced to upgrade the infrastructure project along the Indo-Pak border.

 

Notably, the BSF has commenced to upgrade the infrastructural projects including the building of new observation towers and ambush-and-patrol shelters along the LoC on Indo-Pak border in a bid to thwart infiltrators who smuggle drugs from across the border into India.

According to the official sources, the construction of observation towers and ambush-and-patrol shelters along the LoC in Punjab is taking place at full speed and many such posts have already been built. However, the new and effective measures of tracking LoC and counter-infiltration strategy have already been put in place due to heavy fog in winter months to safeguard to a border.

The measures come after the BSF in the month of December last year recovered 13.26kg heroin from the border outposts (BOPs) of Daoke and Bharopal on the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar district, Punjab. While Ferozepur sector of Punjab witnesses major harbouring of drugs. 107.737 kg heroin was seized from the border in Ferozepur sector against a total seizure of 279 kg from the entire Punjab border.

Importantly, Pakistan sends terrorists in Kashmir to spread terrorism while in Punjab it sends drugs so that the youth exploit their future and life.
