GJM leader Bimal Gurung changes his tone, agrees to have talk with Bengal govt

Darjeeling, January 12: After spending a long-term in abscond, the main face of Gorkhaland agitation Bimal Gurung has come to public. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha(GJM) leader has expressed his wish to talk to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the issue. Earlier, Gurung was stubborn at his position that he won’t talk to the government until it is agreeing to the demand of the different state.

Gurung, when was in run used to send out numerous audio records to intense the fight for Gorkhaland. Now taking opposite turn, he has told he is against separatist attitude and he believes in national unity. He claimed his political party is going in accordance with the constitution. He also complained of false cases against him by West Bengal Police.

When he was asked about if he is open to a talk, he said the discussion is the only way to a solution. He termed their agitation as a fight for the existence of Gorkhas. Bengali people are brother and sister of Gorkhas but as their culture is totally different they want a different state. He also urged GJM supporters to refrain from any destructive activity.
