South Korea proposes working level talk on North’s participation in Winter Olympics

Seoul, January 13: After holding first official talk with North Korea after year, South Korea wants to take it forward to working level. Seoul has proposed working-level talks with North Korea on the latter's participation in the Winter Olympics set for next month.

The two sides have already agreed to hold a talk hosted by International Olympic Committee (IOC) on January 20th. Prior to that, South Korea suggested inter-Korean talk to hold on 15th January. The talk will discuss North’s participation.

"The South also delivered a document presenting its position regarding the North’s participation in the Pyeongchang Olympics and matters on cultural events," South Korea’s Unification Ministry said.

Earlier, during the first talk, North Korea agreed to send delegation to Winter Olympics. US President Donald Trump and UN Chief welcomed the talk for its positive outcomes. South Korea President Moon Jae-in credited US President Donald Trump for the talk.

After a year full of tensions, in a dramatic twist, North Korea came out of its alienation. Even, Trump expressed his wish to talk to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
