Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat warns Pakistan of stronger reaction for supporting terrorism

New Delhi, January 15: Army Chief General Bipin Rawat on Monday warned Pakistan of stronger reaction for its support to terrorism. This comes few hours after security forces including BSF, JK Police eliminated 6 Jaish terrorists and foiled infiltration bid in Uri sector while in retaliation for the death of three Indian soldiers, the Indian Army shot down seven Pakistani jawans and injured 4 others along Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu Kashmir's Poonch district.

 

Notably, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat while addressing Armymen on the occasion of Army Day said that security forces will not let anti-India activities succeed at any cost in Jammu and Kashmir and further warned of stronger reaction against Pakistan-supported terrorism.

He said, "Pakistan Army has been continuously trying to help terrorists sneak into India along LoC in Jammu and Kashmir and we are using our might to teach them a lesson." "If we are forced, then we may resort to other action by stepping up military offensive," he added.

The Army Chief while referring border issue with China also said that disputes along the Line of Actual Control in the northern border were continuing and transgressions were taking place and We are working to stop them.

Earlier in the day, security forces including Jammu and Kashmir's police, Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) sent six Pakistani terrorists belonged to Jaish-e- Mohammad (JeM) terror group into the graves after they tried to sneak in the Indian side in the Uri sector of Baramulla district along the Line of Control (LoC).

On the other side, in retaliation for the death of three Indian soldiers, the Indian Army has shot down seven Pakistani jawans and injured 4 others along Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu Kashmir's Poonch district.

In tactical operations and retaliatory cross-border firings along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Army has eliminated at least 138 Pakistan Army personnel last year. Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the International Border (IB) and the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir more than 720 times last year, the highest in the past seven years. According to data compiled by the Union Home Ministry, Pakistani forces have violated ceasefire 724 times along the IB and the LoC till October in comparison to 449 times in 2016.
