Showcasing rich, colourful culture of Rajasthan 25th International Camel festival being organized in Bikaner

Bikaner, January 15: Rajasthan is considered amongst the best and hot tourist destination of the country which also has the rich and colourful culture. Showcasing the same, the two-day 25th International Camel festival is being organized at Karni Singh stadium in Rajasthan's Bikaner district.

 

Beautifully decorated camels and performances by folk artists were the major attractions for all the domestic and foreign tourists during this two-day mega event. Notably, the two-day festival which began on 14th January is organized by the Department of Tourism, Art and Culture to celebrate and honour Camel.

The festival began from Junagarh Fort which culminated at the Karni Singh stadium where various folk performances were held. The two-day festival includes spectacular performances like camel dances, camel races, neck shaking camel rides etc. The fascinating fire dance also added glamour to the Camel Festival. While the ambiance of the fair inspired fire dancers to perform brilliant acts.

The organizer said, "Enthusiasm can be witnessed among the visitors over here. People from different parts of the country have come here to see and participate in this festival. The camels have been decorated colorfully and beautifully."

Interestingly, this festival is organized in January every year by to celebrate and honour Camel, which is also known as the ship of the desert. Camels and the Bikaner have a long association. Since the era of the founder of the city Rao Bika Ji, Bikaner is the only camel breeding region.

The gentle beasts raised here have been enrolled even in the army. The camel corps are known as “Ganga Risala” and have served in the world wars and Indo-Pak wars. Indian army still maintains a regiment where these brave animals loyally service in the Border Security Force.
