Strengthening new era of friendship, India Israel ink 9 MoUs in agricultural, cyber-security cooperation

New Delhi, January 15: Highlighting the ‘Dawn of a new era of friendship’, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation-level talks during a bilateral meeting at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. Over 9 Mous got inked focusing on agricultural cooperation, cybersecurity, space, defence etc.

During the Joint Press Statement, India Israel signed 9 MoUs catering to the fields like cyber-security, petroleum and natural gas, the protocol on amendments to air transport, film co-production, research into homoeopathic medicine, cooperation in the field of space, cooperation in the area of metal-air batteries, cooperation in concentrated solar thermal technologies.

 

While addressing the Joint Press Statement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that “We will strengthen the existing pillars of cooperation in areas that touch the lives of our peoples. These are agriculture, science and technology and security. We exchanged views on scaling up the Centers of Excellence that have been a mainstay of agricultural cooperation.”

In defence, I have invited Israeli companies to take advantage of the liberalized FDI regime to make more in India with our companies. We are venturing into less explored areas of cooperation such as oil & gas, cybersecurity, films and start-ups, PM Modi added.

Lauding the India-Israel intact ties, PM Modi said “In Prime Minister @netanyahu, I have a counterpart who is equally committed to taking the India-Israel relationship to soaring new heights.”

 

As Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit Ahmedabad ahead, PM Modi said that “I am delighted to have the chance to be with PM @netanyahu in my home state, Gujarat, day after. There we will have another opportunity to see the fulfilment of the promise, which our mutual cooperation holds in diverse areas such as agriculture, technology, and innovation.”

Thanking back to Prime Minister Modi, Israel PM Netanyahu said that “You are a revolutionary leader in the best sense of the term. You have revolutionized the relationship between India and Israel.” Further PM Netanyahu also assured, “India and Israel will keep our citizen free from Terror.”
