Deadly monster ‘Bleeding Eye’ fever reeling over Africa!

Uganda, January 16: After the deadly Ebola outbreak, now another catastrophic fever is reeling over the continent of Africa! Already 4 have succumbed to the deadly ‘bleeding eye’ fever nearby countries like Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia, Dr Congo are posing severe threats. Up to 60 people are now feared to be infected and are undergoing tests by a team from the Sudanese Health Ministry and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

 

Officially named Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever leaves people bleeding from their eyes, mouth, and anus – is thought to be spreading in South Sudan. The disease is transmitted to humans through tick bites, or through contact with the blood of infected animals, especially during slaughter. This fever can kill humans in just two weeks. 

GRIM Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is carried by ticks and picked up from cattle, sheep and goats.

It's endemic in many countries in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia. And outbreaks have been reported in Russia, Turkey, Iran, Albania, Pakistan and southern Africa in recent years.

As of now according to World Health Organi9sation WHO no vaccine is available for either animals or humans. Ribavirin is the primary treatment drug available. Immunoglobulin therapy is also being used for its treatment since 2011.
