Women helpline number in Haryana to be centralized soon for ensuring better security

Chandigarh, January 16: Recently Haryana has witnessed a number of brutal incidents against women in a short span. To prevent such incidents, the state will soon get centralized women helpline number. The number, 1091, 1091 will make an immediate response to any women in distress, anywhere and anytime.

Currently, the helpline number is running at the district level. The new system will enable a single center to receive all help calls with immediate urgency. Moreover, it will give 24 hours immediate response. Chief Secretary D.S. Dhesi and Additional Chief Secretary, Home, S.S. Prasad announced this on Monday.

The Chief Minister of the state, Manohar Lal Khattar, who is deeply concerned about the issue, has directed police to beef up their work. He ordered the police force, especially the officers, to set up a special team to arrest the criminals and ensure that they get strict punishment.

As for punishments, case filing is very important. All police officers have been directed to ensure that whenever any incident of crime against women is reported, case should be registered immediately and to follow it up with prompt action. Patrolling in crime-prone areas will also be geared up.
