BJP opposes Panchayati Raj amendments of TRS government

Hyderabad, January 16: Questioning the validity of TRS government’s proposed amendment to Panchayati Raj bill, senior Telangana BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy said that TRS government is trying to weaken the constitutionally empowered Panchayati Raj institutions.

Speaking to the media, the former State BJP in-charge stated that K. Chandrasekhar Rao led the TRS government has failed to provide mandatory aid to gram panchayats and Zilla parishads. Raising objection on the timing of amendments, Reddy observed that keeping eyes on 2019 polls, KCR is trying to influence to the sarpanches who refused to join TRS.
Responding to the move of co-opted members, the BJP floor Leader maintained that TRS government was trying to destroy the institutions just for the sake of political superiority.
