Bengaluru, January 16: Reacting strongly against the alleged abusive comment against Kannadigas, BJP leader B S Yeddyurappa has asked Goa Irrigation Minister Vinod Palyekar to tender an unconditional apology for his remarks. Palyekar’s comments came on the backdrop of Mahadayi river water dispute where two neighboring states are fighting over the sharing of water from Mahadayi basin.

The former Chief Minister took to Twitter and expressed objection over the abusive word referred to the people of Karnataka. Vinod Palyekar, who represents Goa Forward Party, a junior alliance partner in BJP led Goa government has rejected the demand for an apology and accused media of misquoting statement.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday slammed Palyekar for hurting sentiments of Kannadigas. Meanwhile, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy also criticised Palyekar's remarks.
