New Delhi/ Mumbai, January 17: Anticipating the huge revenue losses, makers of Sanjay Lila Bhansali’s Padmavaat has filed a plea against the ban imposed by the state government despite getting clearance from the censor board. BJP ruled state like Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have banned the movie citing law and order issues. The film will hit the screens on January 25.

Producers of Deepika starrer flick today approached apex court to address the issue of a ban imposed on its release by various State governments. According to media reports, A Bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud will address the plea submitted by the makers with the request for urgent hearing.

Bankrolled by leading production house Viacom18 Motion Pictures in association with Bhansali Productions, the much anticipated Padmaavat is based on the fictional work of Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi. Anticipating the problem of law and order even after CBFC clearance, states like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have restricted the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali film.

Earlier, the apex court had turned down the petitions of various social and religious organizations demanding a complete ban on Bhansali’s epic drama with the allegations of historical facts associated with Rani Padmini, the warrior queen of Rajasthan.
