Bengal’s educational sector gets major boost along with business

Kolkata, January 18: Along with business, education sector of Bengal has also received good news on Wednesday. Three premium institutions of Kolkata- Calcutta University, Jadavpur University, Presidency University will get various gifts to reach higher excellency.

The government would allot five acres to Jadavpur and Calcutta universities each. "I am announcing that the state government will allot five acres to both Jadavpur University and Calcutta University," the chief minister said.

Jadavpur University has alone signed three MoUs with three leading foreign universities for collaborative research and education. "We have signed three MoUs with Edinburgh University, University of Exeter in UK and Eötvös Loránd University of Hungary," said Suranjan Das, vice-chancellor of Jadavpur University. Presidency VC Anuradha Lohia signed an MoU with the University of Edinburgh.

The MoU with Eötvös Loránd University of Hungary will focus in the engineering and technology sector. JU has already been doing joint research projects with Edinburgh University (EU) and the university's School of Oceanography has been working in collaboration with EU.
