‘DefExpo India 2018’ will be held in Chennai: A platform to showcase defense expertise from across globe

Chennai, January 18: Chennai set to host international defence exhibition titled as ‘Defexpo India 2018’ which will be held on April 11 to 14. An international land, naval and internal homeland security systems exhibition will be the platform provided by ‘DefExpo India 2018’. More than 80 countries will showcase their defence expertise during the expo. 

At the inaugural session of the Defence Industry Development Meet, the Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "It is the first time that the defence expo is going to be held in Chennai. The Tamil Nadu government has allocated land on the East Coast Road at Thiruvidanthai near Mamallapuram."

 

"Till 2016, all defence expos had been held only in New Delhi. When Manohar Parikkar was Defence Minister, it was held in Goa (in 2017). Now, after I took charge as Defence Minister, the expo will be held in Chennai," said the Minister Sitharaman.

Defexpo India 2018, the tenth in the series of biennial Land, Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems Exhibition, will be held at Arulmigu Nithyakalyana Perumal Temple, Thiruvidanthai,Thiruvidanthal, Thiruporur Taluk, Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, India from 11 to 14 April 2018. Defexpo India is clearly steering the path of steady growth and has been receiving overwhelming and unprecedented international response with each edition.

The 9th edition of DefExpo India was held in March 2016, recorded an unprecedented growth in foreign as well as domestic companies participation over its previous editions. An impressive 232 foreign companies from 32 countries participated in the show along with 15 country pavilions.

DefExpo 2016 provided a platform to all the exhibitors to display their latest technologies and products and an opportunity to explore/tap the market and business potential for mutual benefits. The event was attended by the largest number of official delegations with 63 delegations from 58 countries gracing the occasion. A number of international seminars and conferences were also conducted on the sidelines of the show.
