New Delhi, January 18: Train journeys are always fun but waiting for train seems much boring. But, soon the long waiting episodes will be equally entertaining. Indian Railway’s waiting rooms will soon have TVs, beverage dispensing machines and light refreshments. Under the pilot project, Delhi division will update its waiting rooms.

"The Delhi Division will undertake a pilot project for upgradation of waiting rooms with modern facilities for dispensing beverages, light refreshments, TVs, upgraded furniture, toilet facilities and other prescribed amenities and services under PPP mode through open bidding process," a set of instructions sent from the railways' transformation said.

Delhi Division after conducting the project for three months will submit a detailed assessment report to the Railway Board for consideration. Due to various reasons, weather conditions, passengers have to wait a long time in waiting rooms. If the waiting rooms are upgraded, passengers will face less misery during those phases.

If Delhi division can implement the project successfully, the equipment will be provided across Railway networks. The division already handles around 500 passenger trains and 210 freight trains every day. So, if it gets success once in this project, it is certain other sections will also be able to implement this.
