New Delhi, January 2: East Bengal beats Indian Arrows by 2 goals scored within three minutes to reach the top position in I-league chart on Tuesday. Indian arrows recently defeated East Bengal’s main rival club Mohan Bagan but on Tuesday gifted East Bengal a one-sided match.

East Bengal’s famous midfielder Mahmoud Al Amna opened the scoring for his club with a superb twisting free-kick in the 13th minute and Japanese star Katsumi Yusa doubled the lead with another excellent finish in the 16th minute. Now, East Bengal with 17 points has a difference of four points with club positioned 2nd placed Minerva Punjab FC.

East Bengal pressed for the early goal to down Indian Arrows’ spirits and in the 13th minute hit gold when Al-Amna slotted the ball home from a free-kick from the edge of the box after Abhishek Halder’s foul on Katsumi Yusa had prompted the referee to give the freekick.

Arrows came with a confidence to play this match with a collection of one win and one draw against two heavyweights Lajong FC, Mohun Bagan respectively. Even in the second half they played well against East Bengal but in the crucial moments they got puzzled and could not create any chance of goals.
