Shimla, January 2: As soon as the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur takes the charge, he took four important decisions immediately with an aim to empower people of the state. The decisions include cleanliness drive, reduction in the fare of HRTC taxis, ex-gratia of 15 lakh to jawan Kuldeep Rai's kin and reshuffling the departments of 17 senior IAS officers. 

Brief descriptions of all four decisions taken by Himachal CM Jai Ram Thakur are as follows:

i) The newly formed CM Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday shuffled the departments of 17 senior IAS officers, including six additional chief secretaries and five principal secretaries. The decision was taken to improve work efficiency of departments.

ii) The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh also announced to reduce fares of HRTC taxis by half for patients and attendants visiting the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla. He said that the fare for HRTC taxis to IGMC would be Rs 10 now which was rupees 20 earlier, adding that the senior citizens will also pay the same fare of Rs. 10.

iii) CM Jai Ram Thakur also launched the drinking water reservoirs cleaning campaign from the Sanjauli water reservoir. On this occasion, he said that the government was committed to total cleanliness and making 'Swachh Bharat' mission a success. He also directed the irrigation and public health department to undertake regular drives for cleaning of water tanks besides preserving the traditional water resources. CM Thakur also assured that every kitchen and bathroom would have a tap with clean water.

iv) Paying up a respect for a martyr, CM Thakur announced compensation of Rupees 15 lakh for the next of kin of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan Kuldeep Rai to empower them, who lost his life in Pulwama terror attack. He further vowed to meet the jawan's family too.

BACKGROUND:

Jai Ram Thakur on 27th of December last year took the oath as new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chief Amit Shah and chief ministers of all BJP-ruled states and those governed by NDA allies. Earlier, BJP moving one step ahead in #CongressMuktBharat after historically winning the Assembly Elections in Himachal Pradesh. BJP registered a comfortable win in Himachal Pradesh after winning 44 seats of the state's 68 seats.
