Seoul, January 2: A better inter Korea relation might help to solve a long-term global crisis. Accepting Kim Jong Un’s offer to send a delegation to Winter Olympics, South Korea has proposed a high-level government meeting with North Korea on January 9 at the truce village of Panmunjom.

The PyeongChang Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be held between February 9 and 25 and March 9 and 18 respectively. Hence due to less time and the importance of the issue, South Korea is treating the matter with urgency.
“The government proposes to hold inter-Korean high-level government talks at Peace House, Panmunjom on January 9 to discuss issues including the North’s participation in the PyeongChang Winter Olympics,” South Korean Minister of Unification Cho Myoung-gyon said at a special news briefing.

“We hope that the South and North can sit face to face and discuss the participation of the North Korean delegation at the Pyeongchang Games as well as other issues of mutual interest for the improvement of inter-Korean ties,” Cho added.

If North Korea accepts the offers, which South is looking forward to, then two Koreas will have the first meeting in 2 years. Hence it has provided South Korea the hope that the two countries may discuss long pending issues with the initiation of the dialogue.
