India summons Pak envoy over unprovoked ceasefire violations

The External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that more than a 100 such violations have been carried out by Pakistani forces on LoC and International Border this year so far.

It also registered its strong protest at the loss of three innocent civilian lives besides injuries to other civilians in the ceasefire violations by Pakistan forces.

Meanwhile, two civilians, a BSF head constable, and an Army personnel were killed, while 26 others severely injured after Pakistan troops extended heavy firing to the other areas including International Border in Jammu. Another Army soldier was also killed in a firing along LoC in Rajouri district. The government of J&K has moved the people living in those areas to a safer place.

Pakistan rangers targeted villages along the IB from Chenab river (Akhnoor) to R S Pura throughout the night in heavy unprovoked shelling and firing, a BSF officials said.

Educational institutes have been closed for next three days along the IB and the LoC in Jammu region by authorities in wake of increased tension along the Indo-Pak border, officials said.
