Mumbai to get 40 electronic buses: CM Fadnavis tweets

Mumbai, January 22: Pollution is hitting hard on people and in order to curb this situation, the officials are trying hard to take out ways to get away from this problem. Electric buses and train working on solar energy have garnered the much need attention and is appreciated by the people for this unique move of the authorities and officials.


 

Joining the group of pollution free electronic transportation, is the city of ‘Mumbai’ to have electronic buses. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has approved and tweeted to let 40 electronic buses run on the streets of Mumbai. This concept was coined by three members Armaan Jain, Murtuza Kotwala and Shyaam Dyate working under the CM Fellowship program. With the aim of contributing their share they came up with the idea of providing Mumbai with electronic buses. BEST has issued tender of buying new buses in order to put this idea into action.

 

This notion of having electronic buses in Mumbai was started back in November 2017 but these three members took the initiative to bring this idea in limelight and enlighten the officials of BEST transportation. BEST chief Dr. Surendrakumar Bagade approved this idea and decided that Mumbai will be equipped with new electronic buses. These buses will comprise of 30-35 seated and these buses will be made available within 4 months.

This decision was taken in accordance with all the officials and it is seen that 60% of the amount under the buses will be given and the remaining amount will be given as a grant to the rest BEST buses. This concept was forwarded to almost 21 states and 44 cities which included Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune. Out of theses Mumbai was selected and BEST got an opportunity to get collaborated with this innovative initiative by the young talent of progressing India.
