Skii in the air! 3rd Kite Skiing Open Tournament kick starts in China
Harbin, January 22: As the say ‘Love is in the air’ but for people of Harbin, China ‘Kites are in the air’!
The 3rd National Kite skiing tournament began in Harbin, Heilongjiang province on Saturday. Kite skiing is one of the new snow sport integrated in kite surfing and skiing. This sport inherits the combination of speed and flying. The third season of the kite skiing has begun and the tournament has seen people skiing and flying kites. The picturesque view of the snow adds scenic beauty to the match and people are however seen enjoying their heart out.
The country has been widely recognized as one of the best spots in the world for snow-kiting. The mountain plateau offers huge areas and stabile wind conditions throughout the entire winter. The Snow kiting is different from kite surfing in one very important way. The surface you ride on changes quickly. The snow can be usually soft, slushy, powder or icy.
The tournament is open for all the people and can register their names on entry itself. However depending on the weather it is considered that January is the best time until the beginning of March which offers the best powder conditions; and mid-March-May has longer days and more days with soft spring snow. On stormy days the road over the mountain can close due to much snow and poor visibility. During these days we offer snowmobile shuttles to spots with better conditions for guests in the hotel.
