Davos, January 23: World Economic Forum at Davos is not only welcoming top world leaders but the entertainment section too. Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan was felicitated by the crystal award at Davos. Khan received the 24th Crystal Award on Monday at the World Economic Forum in Davos for “his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India”.

English singer Sir Elton John and Australian actress Cate Blanchett were also honored at the event. As King Khan is the founder of non-profit Meer Foundation, which provides support to female victims of acid attacks and major burn injuries through medical treatment, legal aid, vocational training, rehabilitation, and livelihood support, he was marked for these deeds.

Talking about receiving the honor, Khan said, “Extremely charged that I’ve had this amazing opportunity, this award, being recognized like this for minuscule work that I did, I’d like to do it with even more fervor. What is even more pleasant is that India is here in full power.”

Further, SRK said that “one thing I have learned while working with the victim women is that they don’t need any kind of charity but they need solidarity. No one wants to be highly privileged or less privileged but they want to be on the same platform on the pillars of unity, courage, and bravery.”

“And also they have forgotten that moment which has ruined their life, and now they are heading towards success in their lives,” Shahrukh said.

Along with receiving the award, Khan will also address a session called An Insight, an Idea with Shah Rukh Khan. The actor will be addressing issues of women empowerment in that session as well.
