SS Rajamauli and Shobu Yarlagadda to interact with IIM Ahmadabad students

Ahmadabad, January 24: Days after the announcement of Baahubali case study project by IIM Ahmadabad, Baahubali director S S Rajamauli and Arka Mediaworks CEO Shobu Yarlagadda will interact with the aspiring entrepreneurs from India’s premium management institute. On 26 January, duos will mark their presence at Chaos, the annual fest of IIM Ahmadabad. Under the banner of Ignitus Speaker Series, the makers of Baahubali will share some anecdotes about the world of Baahubali that shattered all the established notions of filmmaking barring all linguistic barriers.

Expressing happiness over the engagement, Baahubali Producer, and Arka Mediaworks CEO Shobu Yarlagadda who is quite active and vocal on social media took to Twitter and shared the update about the most awaited ‘Baahuali session’ The grand event which includes Maverick director Rajamauli and Technocrat Shobu Yarlagadda, have already created buzz in the campus. Chaos is the annual cultural festival of IIM-A, is a 4-day event of 500+ colleges with 70,000+ footfall. The event will be held at PP Gupta Auditorium on 26 January, 5 PM. Prof. Arvind Sahay will moderate the session.

SS Rajamauli’s magnum opus series Baahubali which has redefined the art of filmmaking will now be introduced as a case study for Management students. India’s top management institute IIM Ahmedabad has planned a comprehensive case study project to analyze the world of Baahubali. As reported by DNA, professor Bharathan Kandaswamy has confirmed the development regarding India’s highest grosser epic drama. Kandaswamy stated that the case study will focus on the unique marketing strategies adopted by the makers of Baahubali with the convergence of art, business, and technology. IIM Ahmedabad was the first business school in Asia to introduce a comprehensive elective course on the film studies where more than 700 students are taking lessons of movie production.


After the earth-shattering successes of Baahubali, besides actor Prabhas, Rajamauli has become a household name for the North Indian Movie lover. Even before Baahubali, he grabbed the attention of movie Buffs with the film called Eega (Makhhi in Hindi). The master storyteller devoted five years to craft the grandeur of Baahubali which stormed the global box office and become first Highest grossing Indian flick. The 44-year-old silver screen magician is the son of renowned writer K. V. Vijayendra Prasad who penned the epic story of Baahubali.

The son-father combination has always proved its mettle and enthralled the moviegoers with different genres. Since childhood days, Rajamauli was fond of epic stories like Mahabharat, Ramayan, and other folklore. During his interaction with IIT students, the ace director expressed wish to work on the epic Mahabharat. Rajmauli made his directorial debut in 2001 with an action drama Student No 1 starring Jr NTR.

An environmental engineer by training, producer Shobu Yarlagadda is the son-in-law of veteran filmmaker K. Raghavendra Rao. After pursuing environmental engineering from Texas A&M University, Yarlagadda along with his friend and Business partner Prasad Devineni ventured some projects like spice and natural extracts business. In 2001 after the back to back business failure, the young entrepreneurs floated Arka Media Works, a TV production house.

During initial days Shobu worked as a line producer for some projects of K. Raghavendra Rao’s feature films. The technocrat also produced a Telugu serial called shantinivasam under the direction of S.S. Rajamouli. The combination worked and Shobu once again joined hands with Rajamouli for flick Maryada Ramanna. Recently Shobu Yarlagadda was quoted in the international magazine Forbes for redefining the process of storytelling. The renowned magazine hailed makers of Baahubali for their transmedia marketing strategy, first of its kind in India.
