India welcomes world leaders arrived for ASEAN summit

New Delhi, January 24: India is all set to hold ASEAN summit on Thursday and also to showcase the Republic Day parade which shows the valor of our heritage rich country as well as our power and bravery. Therefore the leaders of 10 ASEAN nations are arriving in New Delhi today.

 

Leaders of 10 ASEAN nations including Prime Minister of Vietnam, Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Madame Tran Nguyen Thu, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen India, State Counsellor of Myanmar Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam, Prime Minister of Thailand Prayuth Chan-Ocha and President of Philippines Rodrigo Roa Duterte have arrived to New Delhi for the India ASEAN Commemorative Summit.




President of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak, President of Myanmar Htin Kyaw and Prime Minister of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith are yet to arrive in New Delhi today.




Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated Bharat ASEAN Maitri Park. The world leaders will also be guests of honour at the 69th Republic Day. On the other side, PM Narendra Modi will hold bilateral meetings with the world leaders. Importantly, every year on the occasion of Republic Day, international guests are invited to attend and cherish the Parade of Republic Day held at Rajpath, New Delhi.


Keeping in mind the VVIP movement, security has been beefed up in the national capital and traffic has also been diverted ahead of Republic Day. For the first time, 700 students from the guest countries will also be performing during the event on January 26, Friday.
