Washington, January 24: Vertical farming has gained a lot of grip over the past few years and is being indicated as the green solution to the growing global food crisis. Consisting of crops piling up in vertical layers, this style of farming can yield more crops per square acre than traditional farming or greenhouses, and also uses less water, grows plants faster.

Plenty is start-up of an indoor farming company which aims at solving the world’s fresh produce shortage by building a massive indoor vertical farm next to every major city worldwide. The farms are built with the companies patent technologies using LED lighting, micro-sensor technology and big data processing to deliver high yields of local, organic and pesticide-free produce using less space and resources than traditional farming.

This technique will help reducing emissions from food miles and will increase the amount of fresh food that people produce. This vertical farming uses artificial techniques and machine proceedings and produces almost 350 crops which are greater than normal farming. Another unusual thing about this is that it produces food in water instead of soil. Artificial lights like LED replaces the original sunlight for their growth. Due to this there is growth of fresh crops and reduces the carbon emission which comes on the food.

However, this is an interesting opportunity for those who love gardening, because now they get an opportunity to have their own farm and can experiment this vertical farming.
