India is ready to further strengthen its relations with Cambodia in the coming future: PM Modi

New Delhi, January 27: Today Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen arrived for India’s visit who was warmly welcomed at Hyderabad House by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India Cambodia held joint press statement to take mutual relations on the higher level. India Cambodia joint statement called on for "security of sea lanes of communication" to "maintain peace and security of navigation" in the "Indo-Pacific Region".

Also, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and ASEAN leaders attended ‘At Home’ reception which was hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Cambodia Prime Minister addressed the joint press statement. Agreements were exchanged between both nations.

 

Addressing the joint press conference, PM Narendra Modi said, “Angkor Wat temple’s preservation is the part of the joint cultural heritage of Cambodia and India.” Further, he said, “We are ready to further strengthen our relations with Cambodia in the coming future.”

Prior to the press conference, PM Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Cambodia held delegation-level talks along with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in Hyderabad House, New Delhi. PM of Cambodia also met with EAM Sushma Swaraj and talked upon various topics including building upon cultural and civilisational linkages. They also discussed issues of mutual interest related to development partnership, trade and investment, HRD and people-to-people contacts.

 

“India committed to taking its relations with Cambodia to a newer level,” said PM Narendra Modi. He also said, “This is the first visit by Cambodian PM in over 10 years; PM Hun Sen has honoured us by coming to the ASEAN India Summit & taking part in Republic Day.”

At the press conference, Cambodian PM said, “Hope Indian investors will go to Cambodia; Indian tourists & investors should come to Cambodia.” Hun Sen also said, “I appreciate PM Narendra Modi for ASEAN India commemorative summit & Republic Day.” The Cambodian PM also said that Cambodia can benefit from act east policy.

Cambodian Prime Minister is in the capital along with rest of the ASEAN leaders to attend the ASEAN India Commemorative Summit.

Meanwhile Spokesperson for Ministry of External Affairs Raveesh Kumar tweeted saying “an important partner in our #ActEastPolicy. Cambodian PM Samdech Hun Sen welcomed by PM @narendramodi on his official visit to India. The two countries enjoy warm and cordial relations that have stood the test of time.”

Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen signed Visitor’s Book after addressing the joint press statement at Hyderabad House.
