Defying terrorists and separatists, Jammu-Kashmir unitedly salutes the Tri-Colour

Jammu, 27 January: Jammu and Kashmir celebrated the 69th Republic Day of the Nation with a colourful display of culture, unity and military might at the Maulana Azad Stadium, Jammu. The ceremony was set underway by the unfurling of the Tri-Colour by the Hon’ble Governor Shri NN Vohra, Contingents from Army, Central Armd Police Force, different wings of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and students from over 25 government & private schools, participated in the parade.

In a testament to the State’s contribution to the defence of India, the army contingent comprising of soldiers from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry and led by their Commanding Officer, Col S Sri Ram impressed one & all with their crisp & razor-sharp movements. A demonstration of tanks, artillery guns, radars, war like equipment followed by a cultural program and motorcycle display by the J&K Police were the key attractions of the celebrations. The event was witnessed by various dignitaries from Army and State Administration.
 
Defying terrorists and separatists, the people of terror and attack prone areas Rajouri, Kishtwar, Ramban and Poonch joined Indian Army to celebrate Republic Day with unprecedented zeal and enthusiasm.
Indian Army celebrated “Republic Day Celebration” at various places of Kishtwar on 26 Jan 2018 with great favorer and gaiety. To mark the occasion beside hoisting of National flag and singing of National anthem event like singing competition, lecture on “Peace and Prosperity”, Essay writing competition, Drawing competition was also held. A total of 1930 locals witnessed and attended these events at various places of Kishtwar region.
The events were unique, unforgettable and motivational for the youth of the region. The events also provided a platform to all the people to rededicate themselves towards maintaining peace and harmony in the region and upliftment of all in the society.
Similarly, the Republic day was celebrated with unprecedented zeal, enthusiasm, and gaiety in various parts of Ramban. Army based at Nachlana conducted multifarious activities such as Run for fun, drawing competition, weapon display, screening of patriotic movies, friendly volleyball match, and distribution of sweets were organised with an aim of building National integration among the locals and youth
The local population at various places in districts of Poonch and Rajouri celebrated the Republic day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 26 Jan 2018. Army Units in conjunction with various schools and civil administration organised numerous event to instill a sense of pride in the local populace as Indian Citizens.
 
The functions were organised at various schools and colleges at Daraba, Jhullas, Thanamandi, Manjakote, Sankari, Keri, Sabargali, Army Goodwill School, Potha and all Army camps.
The celebrations witnessed hoisting of the National Flag and reciting of the National Anthem along with conduct of cultural programmes by the school children. People from all sections of society including students, teachers, sarpanches, ex-servicemen, village elders and other prominent members witnessed the functions. As part of the event, school students glorified the occasions with various cultural programmes enacting roles of freedom fighters, traditional folk dances, and songs which left the audience enthralled and mesmerized.
The event evoked considerable patriotic feelings and enthusiasm amongst the school children, teachers, and local population. The events further strengthened the existing bond between Army and AWAAM which can be judged by sincere appreciation and willing participation of the locals in the celebration.
