Two Maoists killed in a gun-battle with CoBRA troops

Raipur, January 28: At least two Maoists were yesterday killed in a gun-battle with security forces in the tribal Bastar division In Chhattisgarh. The incident took place when a team of COBRA battalion of CRPF was on a search operation in Chintalnaar area of Sukma district.

The Maoists were gunned down after an exchange of fire near Morpalli village. The bodies of the killed Maoists have been recovered by the forces. The security forces also recovered some detonators and other material from the encounter site.

“The troops of 201 CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) were carrying out a search and area domination operation under the Chintalnar police station limits of Sukma when an encounter occurred with the Maoists near Bukameta village,” a CRPF official said.

“After the encounter, the security forces recovered two bodies in Maoist uniform one male and one female along with two weapons,” a CRPF official added.

The Maoists also set ablaze several vehicles in three separate incidents in the district bordering Chhattisgarh.
