Kabul, January 3: Afghanistan forces have killed 86 Islamic State terrorists during raids in Nangarhar and Jawzjan provinces on Monday. Also, 18 terrorists were also injured in the crackdown backed by air power. The IS terrorists have been using civilian houses in the district.

Nangarhar governor's spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, confirmed the casualties and said the operations were conducted from the air and ground in Gorgore and Wangora areas of Haska Mena district.

Several light and heavy weapons including ammunition were also destroyed during the airstrike, the statement added.

In the meantime, the governor’s office in its statement said one civilian was killed and at least fourteen were also wounded during the airstrikes as the ISIS militants had used them as human shields during the operations.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the ISIS insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

Nangarhar is among the relatively calm provinces in East of Afghanistan but the security situation of the province has started to deteriorate during the recent years.
